For some time now, members of the Andean Community (CAN) have been working on the implementation of the new Andean Migration Statute, which seeks a much more robust integration facilitating the international transit of the 111 million habitants of the regional space.
Since its entry into force on August 11, 2021, Colombia had been advancing new adjustments to migration regulations in compliance with the guidelines established in Decision No. 878 "Andean Migrant Visa" and "Andean Resident Visa" "which can be requested from the date. The "Andean Migrant Visa" visa may be requested only by persons belonging to Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru, will be valid for 2 years and will allow its holder to carry out any lawful activity in Colombian territory. Some documents required to obtain them are:
Valid passport with a minimum validity of six (6) months.
Certificate of police and judicial or criminal background in the Member Country of his nationality or in which the petitioner had resided during the five years prior to his arrival in Colombia, apostilled or legalized, and translated, if applicable; or failing that, certified by the consular office of your country in Colombia.
Certificate proving the lack of police and judicial or criminal records of the Andean national petitioner in Colombia, if in the country.
Letter stating the purpose of establishing temporary residence in Colombia by informing and means of subsistence.
On the other hand, the "Visa Residente Andino" visa will have an indefinite validity and may be requested by those who have held a valid M Migrante Andino visa for two years. To obtain it, the process must be initiated within 90 days prior to the expiration of your M Migrante Andino visa, likewise, it is valid to mention that it may be requested only by persons belonging to Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru. Some documents required to obtain them are:
Passport valid for at least 6 months.
Certificate of Migratory Movements issued by the Special Administrative Unit Migration Colombia.
Copy of the Certificate of Aliens.
Accreditation of lawful means of living that allow the subsistence of the petitioner Andean national and members of his family group in the country in Colombia.
