It is a Catholic celebration, which gathers families around the manger, from December 16 to 24.

It is always prayed in family, friends and neighbors; a prayer is made corresponding to each day, usually an emphasis is made on a virtue, the prayer to St.Joseph, to the Virgin and to the divine Child, are equal for every day. It ends with carols, which are songs of praise to the divine Child, as The fish in the river, Bell on bell, Marimonera, El burrito sabanero, and many others!

Every day you pray in a different house, you offer food such as fritters, custard, fries, rice pudding, tamales, inevitable not to eat these delights by these dates.

The prayer is done in a shared way , that is , a member of the family begins the novena with a carol, and we all follow him, prayer to start, prayer to the family, usually made by the father or an elder brother, continues the Prayer to the Blessed Virgin, that the Mother of the house prays, the prayer, to St.Joseph, the Father of the house, one of the children prays to the divine Child ; it is an opportunity for that In Colombia, we have been following this tradition since the 18th century , written by an Ecuadorian priest on behalf of the then director of the Colegio la Enseñanza in the city of Santa Fe de Bogotá , and that we continue to pray together and celebrate with much joy and joy the birth of the Child God.read a prayer in front of their family and do it optimally , for the little ones it is a great achievement!

In the carols children usually play tambourines, maracas, flutes, and the larger ones, piano and guitar. We live a true pre-Christmas party , and it is said that we celebrate the longest Christmas party , both in Colombia and in Ecuador, nine days of meeting, in unity , joy and love, waiting for the birth of the child Jesus.

A few years ago, within this space, families used to play "the Christmas bonus" that is games like "the statue " "straw in mouth" “when talking and not answering" "three feet" "dance with the broom" this generated an atmosphere of play and joy, and brought much laughter among all those invited to the novena.

In Colombia, we have been following this tradition since the 18th century , written by an Ecuadorian priest on behalf of the then director of the la Enseñanza School in the city of Santa Fe de Bogotá , and that we continue to pray together and celebrate with much joy and joy the birth of the Child God.
